Home Decor: The Top 10 Console Tables
I love a variety of different design magazines but one of my favorites is Elle Decor. In the March 2010 edition, they have their top 10 list of... and this time, Elaine Griffin and Todd Alexander Romano describes the top 10 favorite console tables.. and I am in love with all of them!
Here are a few of my favorites:
*Endless Console by Dune*

I love the simplicity of this console table and it is strong enough to stand on its own or set in front of a great backdrop of a beautiful dark paint color or wallpaper.
*Glass Console from ABC Carpet & Home*

I am definitely picturing this gorgeous table behind a sofa, upholstered in a very interesting fabric. It will serve the purpose of a tabletop but not compete with your other pieces.
*Le Pont Serving Table from FCL Style*

I love how this table is like a great pair of skinny jeans. Depending on what you pair it with, it could be casual or dressed up elegantly.
*George Console by Oly*

Last but not least, my favorite. I love how the repetition of the angled base makes up a more complex sculpture. The clean, white surface allows the base to stand out. Outside of the dining room, I could see it as a great piece in the foyer or hallway.

Cats and Art
So, today while feeding my shopping addiction at ModCloth.com, I came across an awesome book by an even more awesome artist named Jeffrey Brown. He is a comic artist and graphic novelist who shares his biography by showing everyday adventures of his cat or specific stories in his life through his own unique style of illustration.
In one of his books "Process" which describes his method of creating these awesome books, he shows his frustrations in something that I think we can all relate to and here is an example of it:

This is original artwork that you can actually buy from: http://www.beguiling.com/artproductview.asp?P_NUM=6912
It's comforting for a student like me who is still trying to find my style or method and almost constantly questioning my process to know that even professional artists sometimes have the same struggles and are still constantly evolving their method.
This is the next book of his on my wishlist:

What could be better than amazing art and cute kitty stories combined?
